**Important Updates to the 2021 National Veterans Wheelchair Games**

We are counting down to the 2021 National Veterans Wheelchair Games and are excited to celebrate the 40th NVWG in New York City! As planning for the 2021 National Veterans Wheelchair Games progresses, NVWG leadership from VA and PVA have consulted with New York City health and business officials regarding local COVID-19 restrictions.

The Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) and Paralyzed Veterans of America (PVA) are proud to team up with the VA New York Harbor Healthcare System to host the 40th National Veterans Wheelchair Games (NVWG) in New York City this August. This year, 2021, marks a significant milestone of 40 years empowering our nation’s Veterans to live healthy and active lives through adaptive sports and recreation. Considering the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic over the past year, coming together as a community in New York as well as across the country through the atHOME competitions, makes this year’s NVWG even more special.

We are inspired by the resilience and adaptation our Veterans continue to show every day. We look forward to witnessing and celebrating your accomplishments, whether they are achieved in New York City or wherever you call home.

The NVWG team is working hard to ensure this year’s program is safe and successful for everyone. The following guide outlines the necessary steps, that everyone participating in the 2021 NVWG must follow, to support the health and safety for all. These precautions have been developed after consultation with our medical team and reviewing the CDC recommendations, New York City Department of Health officials and published guidelines and guidance from leadership from both VA and PVA.

The following information in the 2021 NVWG Safety Playbook applies to all participants and attendees of the 40th National Veterans Wheelchair Games in New York City. This includes Veterans, Coaches, NVWG Staff, Volunteers, Caregivers, Sponsors and Exhibitors. Your support of following the plan is appreciated and essential as we all have to do our part to support each other.

Please thoroughly review the NVWG Safety Playbook.
